Orsett & Thurrock retained their South Essex Women’s Indoor Cricket crown after a comprehensive six-wicket win over Belhus.

In the annual event sponsored by Thurrock Sports Council at Stanford-le-Hope’s Gable Hall School, Emily Hart and Allison Edmeades were undefeated on 26 and 27 respectively.

It was left to Emma Green (seven not out) and Charlotte Davis (three not out) to finish the job as the Orsett team stormed to 76 without loss with six overs to spare.

Earlier, Belhus’ Rachel Cordell (24) joined Tilly Barnett (15) for a second wicket partnership which yielded 45 runs.

The North Stifford team were restricted to 75-3 after their allotted 15 overs, Green closing on figures of 2-4 on a profitable afternoon.

In the earlier match, Belhus Ladies narrowly defeated Orsett & Thurrock Amazons by five runs, Cordell top scoring with 25.

The in-house match between Orsett & Thurrock’s two teams resulted in a slender one-wicket win for the Ferrets over the Amazons.
