l RUNDOWN: East Thurrock United approach the closing weeks knowing they have secured another season in the National League South.

After Tuesday’s loss in the Essex Senior Cup final, John Coventry called on his players to finish the season strongly as his side continue to break targets set by the management.

And they will fancy their chances against Whitehawk, although the south coast side have plenty to play for.

The Hawks are just two points and one place above the relegation places and may target the mid-table Rocks as an ideal opponent to climb the standings.

Rocks are gunning for a top 10 finish, and will not want to tail off in the closing weeks, with Hemel Hempstead Town and Eastbourne Borough breathing down their necks.

l MANAGER’S VIEW: Rocks boss John Coventry said: “We have a lot of tired bodies after our exertions in the Essex Senior Cup and I have to use my squad.

“It will be very tough for our players. We were beaten at home by Whitehawk in the FA Cup and we beat them away in the league.

“They don’t want to be in their position and have plenty to play for.

“A top half finish would be great. We want to accumulate points and we will see where we are at the end of the season.

“But we have pieces to pick up for now.”

l TEAM NEWS: Ben Wood will not start after coming off late on against Chelmsford. Marvin Ekpiteta returns having been cup-tied in the week.

Femi Akinwande plays the last game of his loan, while Scott Heard also returns as he plays the penultimate game of his loan spell.
