MASON Bloomfield’s solitary strike was enough to keep alive Aveley’s faint play-off hopes and relegate Wroxham in the process.

The on-loan Dagenham & Redbridge striker headed home with 10 minutes remaining to keep Aveley in the running.

It was a slow start, with Wroxham creating the best early opportunity.

Jack Guyton hit the post from close range when perhaps he should have scored, but chances were few and far between.

Ross Gleed came close following a fine double save from Millers stopper Lamar Johnson, with Adalberto Pinto also off target.

But Bloomfield was to be the difference. A free-kick was floated in and the striker headed into the corner for his ninth of the season.

Stopper Johnson made two important late saves to ensure it ended 1-0.
