IT was more frustration for play-off chasing Thurrock as they played out a goalless draw with struggling Heybridge Swifts.

Following defeat to Soham Town Rangers on Saturday, Fleet would have wanted all three points against another side near the bottom, as they bid to secure a top five spot in the Ryman North come the end of April.

Thurrock had a number of first-half chances, although none that truly tested goalkeeper Lewis Moore.

David Cowley’s header was comfortably saved, with Michael Pindy and Mark Onyemah also denied.

Adam Bolle had the best chance for the visitors but his swirling effort was pushed to safety by Bobby Mason between the posts.

Joe Christou volleyed over in the last action of the first-half.

The same man shot over at the onset of the second-half, with defender Richard Halle also unusually wasteful in front of goal.

The best chance came in the final 15 minutes.

Onyemah carried the ball to the edge of the area before passing out to substitute Glenn Poole, but his cross was headed onto the crossbar by Jack Barham.
