GRAYS Athletic threw away a two-goal lead to lose 5-2 to fellow strugglers Harrow Borough.

Lheureux Menga hit an early double for Jamie Stuart's side, but George Nicholas got a goal back for the visitors to cut Grays' lead in half.

Further goals from Kurtis Cumberbatch, Shaun Preddie and a Lewis Driver brace condemned Grays to a second consecutive defeat to a side looking to avoid relegation from the Ryman Premier League.

Grays got off to the best possible start, as Menga fired the hosts into a third minute lead.

Menga, who saw red in the 2-1 reverse to Hendon on Saturday, then doubled his tally to give Grays a 2-0 lead inside 14 minutes.

But Harrow Borough hit back three minutes later through midfielder Nicholas.

Cumberbatch got the visitors back on level terms early in the second half, and with Harrow Borough in the ascendancy, they pushed for a valuable three points.

As the relegation six-pointer entered the final 20 minutes, Stuart's side conceded a penalty and striker Lewis Driver converted to give Harrow Borough the lead for the first time on the night.

Four minutes later, defender Shaun Preddie notched the visitors' fourth and Driver added his second to put the game out of sight and leave Grays on the wrong end of a 5-2 scoreline.

The result leaves Grays bottom of the Ryman Premier League and seven points off safety, while Harrow Borough have pulled three points clear of the bottom four.
