l RUNDOWN: East Thurrock United will be keen to build on their continued cup success when they make the short trip south of the river Thames to do battle with Dartford tomorrow.

Rocks saw off Colchester United in Wednesday night’s Essex Senior Cup quarter-final, thanks to goals from Sam Higgins and Michael Clark to book their place in the last four.

Kent side Dartford are consistently fighting at the top end of the National League South, and are just a point off the play-off places.

Much of that is down to an excellent defensive record that has seen their net bulge just 22 times in 22 games so far. However, only one side in the top 15 has scored fewer than their 31 to date.

l MANAGER’S VIEW: Rocks boss John Coventry said: “Colchester were the better side in the first half and were well drilled and technically talented as I expected them to be. They caused us problems and we rode our luck but we got better and got the goals in the end. Over the course of 90 minutes they may feel aggrieved however.

“In terms of Dartford, I know they are very efficient and don’t play a too expansive game. They know how to get the job done. There are a lot of 1-0s in there so the first goal will be important.

“There will be and a big crowd and we will look forward to that. I have never managed a game at Dartford so that will be another new experience for me as well.”

l TEAM NEWS: East Thurrock United could be without defender Joe Ellul, after he was taken off early in the second half on Wednesday.

Former Darts man Lee Burns is set to start, having come off the bench against Colchester.
