AVELEY battled back from a half-time deficit to beat Brentwood Town and continue their fine start to the season.

The hosts went behind after eight minutes in the Ryman North clash and it was an avoidable goal. A straight ball was played between the defence and Andy Freeman raced onto it and beat Lamar Johnson in the home goal.

The Millers had started poorly and a weak pass saw Johnson exposed and he brought down Lamar Reynolds in the penalty area.

The former Millers attacker took the kick but blazed it off target to Aveley boss Justin Gardner’s relief.

This saw the visitors click into gear and they should have drawn level when Danny McCullock was kept out by a fine last-ditch challenge in front of goal.

The same man was denied by the Brentwood keeper soon after, although Johnson had to be alert in the opposite goal as he made two fine saves in quick succession.

A goal down at the break, Aveley were transformed in the second-half.

Arian Retkoceri levelled four minutes after the break, finishing from a tight angle following a free-kick.

And two minutes later it was 2-1, with Michael Pindy playing in the dangerous McCullock and he bent home with his left foot.

Pindy added a third on the hour mark, following some excellent work from Olu Olliwatimilehin and that was how it stayed.

Tilbury won a cracking game 3-2 at Brightlingsea Regent, coming from behind to snatch a late winner.

The Dockers have improved of late and took the lead inside the first 15 minutes, with Emiel Aiken on target.

But Regent got back into the game through talisman Aaron Condon, who levelled from the penalty spot 10 minutes later.

And the same man put Regent ahead on the stroke of half-time.

But the Dockers were excellent after the break and turned the game on its head. Kurt Smith levelled the match six minutes into the second-half from the penalty spot.

Dwade James got the winner just four minutes from time to send the away fans home delighted.

Thurrock conceded a late equaliser to draw 1-1 at Waltham Abbey.

Fleet made the trip to Abbey and it was a tight encounter throughout, with little between the sides.

Ronnie Winn got the goal that looked as though it was going to settle the encounter in the early stages of the second-half.

But, with just 60 seconds left, Abbey pulled level when Michael Spencer found the net.

Richard Halle was sent off in the closing exchanges in a frustrating end to the clash.
