IT was a disappointing night for Grays Athletic as they slumped to a 3-0 home defeat to Lowestoft Town.

Blues were looking for a morale-boosting result in the Ryman Premier League encounter but they couldn’t match the Suffolk side, despite making a strong start.

Although Lowestoft could have taken an early lead, but for the flag of the assistant referee ruling out one effort.

Adeyinka Cole shot off target for Grays while Luke Hornsley, following his debut goal at the weekend, hit the post with a long range effort.

But the game was taken away from Grays in a matter of minutes as two goals in quick-succession saw them fall 2-0 behind.

Frazer Blake-Tracy hit the first before Joe Marsden found the bottom corner.

Marsden missed several more glorious chance to extend the advantage before Jake Reed picked up the ball following some sloppy Grays play at the back and scored.

The result leaves Grays in the relegation places with seven points from their 10 games so far.
