It was a great day for Thurrock’s Under-17 men’s team as they scooped the EYAL plate in the final in Hemel Hempstead.

The U17m triumphed in their section coming first and winning the sought after trophy, finishing fourth overall.

The coaches and committee members congratulated all the athletes on their achievements.

Elsewhere, at the England Athletics U15/U17 National Championships, under-15 boy Theo Adesina impressed representing Thurrock.

Theo came third in the 80m hurdles, running a PB time of 11.44s (placing him seventh in the country for his age group), and winning a bronze medal in long jump with a personal best of 6.59m (placing him second in the country for his age group).

Under-17 male William Adeyede earned a silver medal in the long jump, with a PB jump of 6.96 (placing him fourth in the country for his age group).

Under-15 girl Funmi Olajide and Ruby Bridger also qualified to complete on the day although just missed out on the medals.

Thurrock’s endurance athletes continued to show their prowess, with Gemma Holloway breaking two records.

Many of the club's senior records go back decades, but Holloway has set two this season. At the recent Watford Open meeting, she broke Jessica Judd's 1,500m record with a time of 4:18:46s to reduce the record by 2.8 seconds.

And earlier this season the junior international broke the club's 3K record which had stood for 25 years.

At the same meeting Sam Smith demonstrated his renewed confidence with 4:30:01 for a 1,500m personal best.

Other endurance results include Jodi Meredith (4:23:77) and Harry Parker (4:33:12) and an excellent 3K from Alec Finch (8:36:16).

In the 800m Demi Eves ran 2:29:4 and Dylan Harrod 2:29.5 in the 800m.
