A STRIKE from David Fallah brought Grays Athletic their much-awaited first win of the season at previously unbeaten Worthing on a pristine 3G playing surface.

Blues produced an excellent all round team performance against their high flying hosts and it could have been more comprehensive had they converted the numerous chances they created.

Fallah came close to scoring in the opening minutes, latching on to a ball from new addition Tayshan Hayden-Smith but scuffing his shot off target.

Shortly after Blues had two golden opportunities to go in front - the first from a low cross from Fallah which ran along the goal line, and then a similar chance on the other flank from Etienne Kabobola but both times a Blues forward wasn't on hand to apply the final touch.

Goalless at half-time, Mikheil Kharshiladze who had been largely a spectator in the first half was called into action in the opening minutes saving from Sam Rents.

It was Blues though that were creating the better openings with Kabobola and Adeyinka Cole testing the Worthing goalkeeper with some long range shots.

The game was now an end-to-end battle with some feisty challenges from both sides, but it was Blues who struck first.

The ball was crossed to L’heureux Menga, who took the ball on his chest and played it out to Fallah who, turned inside and curled a low shot past the outstretched hands of the diving goalkeeper with 20 minutes remaining.

Kharshiladze made several late saves to keep the Grays goal intact, including an excellent late effort.

In the Ryman North, Thurrock earned an excellent three points against Wroxham.

Charlie Stimson scored the winner and it came after just 18 minutes. Stimson sold a defender an excellent dummy before receiving the return ball and lashing past the goalkeeper into the near post.

Wroxham had a man sent off before the hour mark and they held on for the points.

Aveley were 3-0 winners against Romford to continue their promising start to the campaign.

The first goal came after 15 minutes, as Michael Finneran met a corner with a thumping header into the net.

The Millers had several more chances but failed to make them count, with the second goal coming minutes into the second-half.

Emmanuel Ighorae scored it, placing past the goalkeeper with a spell of Romford pressure following the goal.

Jonathan Adebayo hit the crossbar but Aveley made the game safe with 12 minutes remaining.

Abs Seymour headed home following more good work by Ighorae and that was how it stayed.

A late goal helped Tilbury to a first win of the season against Dereham Town.

The Dockers had led at the break, with Emiel Aiken getting the opener 10 minutes before half-time.

Rhys Logan pulled Dereham level just after the hour mark but Tilbury took the initiative once Connor Green was sent off for the visitors.

Jack Carlile got the winner with just six minutes remaining.
