ORSETT & Thurrock lost their second SNEL Division One game in succession as they lost ground at the top following a 91 run home defeat against Loughton.

The visitors won the toss and chose to bat first on a hot day. Bilal Butt made the most of the favourable batting conditions as he struck 100 off 67 balls. There were also contributions from the top of the order by Nishad Gabhawala (47), Fahad Anwar (38) and Mahmad Ali Khail (24) as they posted 254 from their 50 overs.

Daniel Laird and Shahid Khan each took two wickets, while Mark Pavitt, Umaad Sultan and Paul Bennett took one apiece.

The hosts struggled to create any substantial partnerships as wickets kept falling regularly. Opener Umar Ayub top scored with 34, Laird made 30 and Sultan 25 but no-one could kick on and make a big score as in the end Orsett & Thurrock fell well short and were all out for 163.
