ST Clere’s YFC created some history as two teams from the same school faced off in the final of the Chelmsford Under-16 League Cup.

St Clere’s White faced St Clere’s Orange at Aveley’s Mill Field ground and played out a thrilling final in which it ended 2-2.

In what has been thought of as the best final in a number of years some fine football was played.

But there had to be a winner and, with the scores level after extra-time, it took a penalty shoot-out to decide the winner.

And it was the Orange team that scored their kicks and ran out 5-4 winners.

St Clere’s thanked the Chelmsford League and Aveley for making us all feel welcome and inviting co-founder Danny’s Price’s widow and two sons to present the trophy, in the season of his passing.
