THURROCK men’s first team lost out in the final moments in a thrilling game against Redbridge & Ilford.

T’s were holding their rivals to a 2-2 draw in the East League Division Three South East until Redbridge struck late on to win 3-2.

It was a far happier day for Thurrock’s second team who thrashed Havering IV 8-0.

Thurrock completely dominated this game, with T’s keeper Danny Hick rarely seeing the ball near his D.

Early goals from Callum Harvey and Liam Birch were added to by Billy Hick to make it 3-0 at half time.

The second-half was more dominant and the highlight was a second half hat-trick from Jay Lamb. The scoring was wrapped up with goals from Jordan Salmon and Olu Akinwande.

The third team, meanwhile, lost 1-0 to Old Southendian XI.

The game was goalless until five minutes before half-time when a rare breakaway from Old Boys saw them get the decisive goal.

Thurrock’s ladies looked like they were hanging on for a fine draw in East Division Two South East against Wapping, only to concede twice in the final five minutes.

The second team thrashed Basildon IV 9-2 despite only having 10 players on the pitch to start – and no goalkeeper!

Emma Grant got a hat-trick, Sally Taylor and Sally Willet a brace each while Nikki Woodruff and Charlene Curtis got one apiece.

The third team lost 2-1 to Witham with newcomer Cheryl Broadbent impressing and Lou Harrison getting the T’s goal.
