Grays Athletic 0–0 Wingate & Finchley
From Mill Field
Ryman Premier League
GRAYS Athletic played out a dull goalless draw against Wingate & Finchley, although there was some late drama.
After a poor match, Wingate striker Rob Laney and Grays goalkeeper Lamar Johnson were both sent off as the game entered second-half injury-time, with the Grays goalkeeper accused of head-butting the Wingate man.
The match had drifted up until this point, with few clear cut chances for either side.
Blues were without top-scorer Dumebi Dumaka, following his brace against Met Police last time out, but they still had plenty of threat in forward positions.
Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson was buzzing around in the early exchanges, and Correy Davidson was another who looked creative, while Wingate were also looking threatening in forward areas.
Laney came close for the away side in a first-half that was devoid of clear-cut chances, with the Mill Field surface proving an obstacle.
The second period was a slightly livelier affair, although the goalkeepers were once again spectators for much of the half.
A late Billy Healey header for Wingate was the closest either team came all afternoon, with his effort coming back off the upright, with Johnson rooted to the spot.
Then came the late drama, although there were no goals to match it.
Grays Athletic: Johnson, Ifill, Siva, Cronin, Hutchings, Agyemang, Michael-Percil, Bentley (Carlos), Fortnam-Tomlinson, Symons (Beaney), Davidson (Maltese)
