Tilbury 3-0 Bishop’s Stortford
From Chadfields
FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round
TILBURY’S terrific season continued as they progressed in the FA Trophy at the expense of a side two divisions their senior.
Bishop’s Stortford are the latest to fall to defeat to Gary Henty’s men, who have not lost a match in all competitions since September 22, and Tilbury were comprehensive winners.
Despite missing four first-team regulars, Tilbury's first goal came early on. Only four minutes had passed when Joe Nightingill blasted the home team in front after good wing play from Kurt Smith.
Stortford, of the Nationals League South, hit the post through George Allen as they looked for an immediate response but the next goal was scored by Tilbury and Smith, midway through the first-half.
Emiel Aiken ran down the right and played Smith in, with the latter finding the net from 12 yards.
Neil Richmond could and probably should have made it 3-0, although Clarke Bogard was not truly tested between the Dockers post until Tom Beere brought the best out of the custodian.
Harry Cook made the game safe inside the final 10 minutes as he finished off a flowing move to continue the Dockers run in this year’s contest.
Tilbury: Bogard, Mead, Glozier, D Smith, Nightingill, J Cook (H Cook), Aiken, Carlile, Richmond, K Smith, Babalola
