GRAYS middleweight boxer Tey Lynn-Jones is determined to secure a title before stepping up to the professional ranks.

Lynn-Jones takes on Joel Wanderema on Saturday night in the quarter-finals of the Queensbury Boxing League.

And he hopes a victory will be the springboard to two more wins on the night to take the belt before joining the paid ranks in the new year.

“I’m looking to finish on a high in the Queensbury with a middleweight title, then have Christmas off and then in new year look to launch my professional career,” said the former Tilbury Dockers ABC fighter.

“I feel I’m in great shape and am down to my fighting weight. All my training in the last six weeks has been coming to this point and I'm ready.”

Aside from road and gym work, Lynn-Jones has been sparring with WBO middleweight champion Andy Lee and Chris Eubank junior in preparation for his quarter-final at the Effingham Park Hotel.

He believes he has benefitted from the experience but said they have not given him any special tips.

“Having the opportunity to spar with a world champions and a possible future world champion has been second to none,” added Lynn-Jones.

“They gave me a bit of advice and have boosted my confidence and talked to me about boxing in general.”

Lynn-Jones potentially faces a trio of three, two-minute round fights at the weekend if he is to take the crown.

He will have around an hour between each fight to recover and feels ready for the challenge, having previously had three fights over a two-day period in the past.
