RYAN Scott admitted he was more than happy to help out up front after he made a goal scoring impact on Saturday.
The Rocks centre-half played as the central striker in Rocks’ 2-1 win over Hampton & Richmond Borough, netting a low first-half strike from 15 yards after ballooning an early effort off target.
Manager John Coventry was full of praise for Scott’s performance after the match, and the 22-year-old, below, said he was pleased to help the team – and get on the scoresheet.
“It was great to score and it came straight off the training ground,” he laughed. “It is normally Higgo (Sam Higgins) in that position and I am blocking but I took over and it went in.
“We knew Walks (James Walker) was going to miss the game so I said I didn’t mind playing up front and I found out on the morning of the game that I was going to start.
“I just thought I would give it everything. I did it at Billericay and Wingate & Finchley so I was pleased I could help.
“Hampton are a good side so this is a good win for us. We didn’t have many chances in the second-half but full credit to our defenders.”
