l Lined up in a 4-4-1-1 formation

GKJames Russell: A great goalkeeper who I played with in my first spell at Canvey. I felt sorry for him as he trained with Chelsea during the day alongside the likes of Fernando Torres and Frank Lampard and then had to come training at night and watch me kick balls out the ground.

RBDave Collis: I used to watch Collis at Thurrock when I was growing up and had the opportunity to play along side him many years later. A great dead ball specialist although not too sure about his long throw.

LBAshley Dumas: Probably the most reliable player I’ve ever played with. You know what you’re going to get from him week in week out and it's always high quality.

CBJohn Easterford: No brainer this one. A no-nonsense non league centre half. I played along side Easters in the 11/12 season and we clicked from the start. We even won the Essex Senior Cup that year without conceding a goal.

CBRich Halle: Another player who rarely misses a game, only through suspension. It was our first season together last year and he netted double figures. A great defender and even better when he doesn’t play with the caravan on his back. A great captain and a top bloke.

CMStuart Thurgood: The most ruthless player ever – on and off the pitch and even in training. You want him on your side. I’ve never seen anyone rattle so many of his own team mates in keep ball at training. Also unreal entertainment value in the dressing room.

RMJoe Keith: I feel privileged to say I’ve played with Joe. Could only imagine what he was like when he was younger. He is still turning players inside out when he could hardly walk. Joe is someone who I really listen too and his opinion is of real high value to me.

CMGlenn Poole: Even though he is the biggest moaner and sulker he is a brilliant player. He is always doing the right things on and off the pitch and set up every single one of my goals last season. I am happy I’m getting a second season playing with him.

ST – Sam Higgins: The easiest decision. I played alongside him for the first time when I was nine, from over the park to senior football. A very close friend of mine. His ability is an absolute joke and he scores not only ridiculous amounts of goals but high quality ones as well.

AM – Max Cornhill: A player that deserved his move up the leagues. I played with Max at East Thurrock when we won Ryman One North and he soon jumped up the leagues. Always doing the right things and working hard up and down the field. Had the ability to progress because of his hard work.

LM – Lee Hodges: Very similar to Keithy as I played with him towards the end of his career but, once again, you could see how good a player he really was. I watched Hodge when I was a kid and he was at Thurrock and to play with him was an honour.
