PEGASUS Palmerians ensured another season of rugby in Essex’s top flight with a 24-19 win over East London.

Going into the game, Pegs knew one more win from their three remaining matches would keep them up.

But with the unbeaten league champions May & Baker and second-placed Upper Clapton still to come, they knew last weekend’s game at East London was their best chance.

Pegasus did go into this fixture with some selection challenges. After losing influential back row forward Neil Tinder with a shoulder injury a week earlier, centre Fraser Princess injured an ankle in the warm up.

But Pegs rallied and went on to record an historic victory.

Man of the match with a brilliant performance was captain Wayne Sinfield playing his first game at dummy-half producing two tries for himself and setting up Dan Collier.

Jason Collier kept his nerve and delivered a masterclass display in kicking with 100 per cent record.
