Maldon & Tiptree 0-0 Thurrock
From the Wallace Binder Ground
Ryman One North
THURROCK drew a blank against Maldon & Tiptree to leave them five points off the play-off places.
The game had plenty of half-chances for both sides but neither could make the telling breakthrough, although Thurrock almost did inside 40 seconds.
A superb piece of improvisation from Steve Carvell saw his effort beat Darren Behcet but not the crossbar.
Carvell and Charlie Stimson were causing the home defenders a great deal of discomfort, with Ross Wall and Stimson both coming close after a long throw from Lewis Clark.
Stimson came close once again before the break but it was goalless at the interval.
After the break Wall linked up with Carvell but his effort was inches past the far post.
Joe Christou sent a free-kick over but the game ended goalless.
Thurrock: R Madden, G Madden, L Clark, King (Goode), Sutton, Waters, Christou, R Clark (Warner), Carvell (Thompson), Wall, Stimson
