Thurrock 0-2 AFC Sudbury
From Ship Lane
Ryman One North
THURROCK lost ground on the play-offs as third-placed AFC Sudbury went away from Ship Lane with the points.
Fleet started brightly and could have taken the lead when Leslie Thompson saw an effort blocked well although the first-half was devoid of clear-cut chances.
Fleet had to make several last-ditch tackles to keep the game goalless but went behind as half-time approached.
Luke Callander crashed a fine effort past Rhys Madden before the visitors missed a glorious chance to double the lead before the interval.
Madden denied Craig Parker but Sudbury were not to be denied for too much longer.
Madden did well to save an initial effort but Parker slotted home after the loose ball came to the striker.
Charlie Stimson shot over as Thurrock tried to get back into the match, while Rob Clark shot wide soon after.
The advantage could have been stretched before the final whistle, but Fleet sit seven points off the final play-off place, albeit with a game in hand on several sides above them.
Thurrock: R Madden, L Clark, Waters, G Madden (King), Sutton, Christou, Thompson (Menga), Spence, Warner (Clark), Wall, Stimson, R Clark
