AVELEY were edged out 3-1 by promotion-chasing Harlow Town.

The Millers, who were beaten 3-1 by Billericay Town in last week’s Essex Senior Cup semi-final, were impressive in the early stages and took an early lead through Theo Ola.

But a brace from Junior Dadson and another from Fabion Simms handed Harlow the points.

The first goal came inside the opening 10 minutes with Ola’s blistering pace leaving full-back Craig Pope with no chance as the winger ‘s effort took a deflection to find the far corner.

Dadson almost brought parity with a fine effort before Billy Jones came close for the home side.

But the equaliser wasn’t long in coming, after a shove in the back saw the referee point to the spot.

Dadson scored the penalty kick but Aveley responded well. Billy Holland saw an effort ruled out for offside before the break, with the scores level at half-time.

The second-half started tentatively and it was a well-judged goal that put the Hawks back in front.

David Cowley cross was partially headed clear but, from the edge of the area, Simms headed over Marrable and into the far corner.

Justin Gardner’s men piled forward in search for the goal that would draw them level, with Ola shooting at goal and Petrit Elbi denied by defender Josh Urquhart.

But it was the hosts who grabbed the next goal, with Dadson breaking through to shoot beyond Marrable.
