Met Police 0-1 Grays Athletic

GRAYS Athletic avenged last week’s defeat against Met Police by ending their unbeaten home record.

Blues were beaten 1-0 by the Met last Wednesday and that was the score again three days later, except it was Grays who took the points.

It was an own goal that decided the contest but Mark Bentley’s side were good value for the win.

Bentley named himself in the starting eleven and Grays started the brighter, forcing a corner in the first minute.

Joao Carlos shot wide soon after before the Met created their first opportunity, with Matt Pattison denied well by the in-form Conor Gough.

Dumebi Dumaka was the next man to come close, as he shot inches wide of the post after Jay Leader had flicked on a Jey Siva free-kick.

Joe Turner was denied by Gough and they took the lead soon after.

Another fine cross by Siva, albeit held up by the swirling wind, deceived home goalkeeper Stuart Searle with the ball clipping the inside of the post and hitting the keeper on the back for an own goal.

Grays continue to press, with Carlos denied by Searle before the half-time whistle.

The second-half was not quite as open, with substitute Connor Davidson coming closest, with his deflected effort looping just over.
