Heybridge Swifts 2-2 Tilbury

From Scraley Road

TILBURY couldn’t take advantage of a manager-less Heybridge Swifts as they struggled to a 2-2 draw.

Assistant manager Danny Smith came into the side but it was Swifts who started the better, Billy Hunt striking the hosts in front in the early stages. Minutes later, Daniel Barber missed an easy chance from a corner from two yards when Tilbury’s first effort coming from Jack West who saw his effort saved.

Tilbury equalised on 21 minutes when a dangerous corner from Ryan Flack fell to the feet of Joe Nightingill to tap home.

Heybridge continued to dominate and took the lead on half-time when a dangerous Joe Pearman cross fell to former East Thurrock United striker Neil Richmond to head home.

Heybridge started the second period well with Richmond and Jonathan Glowacki both going close.

The introduction of Daniel seemed to energise the visitors and his first touch saw his low effort turned round the post by Danny Sambridge.

The final 15 minutes saw Tilbury dominate and they were back on level terms when another Flack corner fell to Matt Game and he struck home.

Tilbury should have taken all three points when Daniel slipped the ball into the path of Flack and he side-stepped Boswell and, with the goal gaping, he hit his effort off defender Barber and away.
