WILLIAM Edwards School has been named the 44th best state sports school in the whole country.
The recent issue of the School Sport Magazine ranked the school as 44th based on 20 different sports and more than 120 national competitions.
More weighting is given to success in a range of sports rather than single sports – not to mention competitions with more teams competing.
Lee Greenwood, head of PE at the school, said: “This is an amazing achievement for all of the pupils and staff at William Edwards.
“It is credit to the hard work, dedication and commitment of all involved. We are very proud of this achievement as it is the first time the school has ever made the list and it demonstrates that every year we strive to improve in our performances in and out of the classroom.”
