THURROCK’S first team sank to a sixth defeat in seven games, losing 33-25, at North Walsham.

The T’s are now 10th in the 14-team London Division One North table and host high-flying Colchester this weekend.

The T’s fourth team entertained a mixture of Westcliff’s fourth and fifth teams in an entertaining game.

Carrick Ryan drove over for Thurrock early on but that was cancelled out by Westcliff.

Thurrock were having most of the game, however, and it was not long before wing Danny Holding got on the scorecard, after a series of attacks, which went in and out, through many hands and was converted by Holding.

After a break from skipper Reece Cunningham, Holding again touched down as Thurrock took control.

Hooker James North then went over and a driving maul to help them lead 22-7 at half time.

The miserable weather made the game a war of attrition in the second half with only Westcliff getting on the scoresheet as the game finished 22-16 to T’s.
