Romford 2

Tilbury 2

TILBURY were indebted to a Jack West double after the striker rescued the Dockers, having gone 2-0 down.
The visitors were dealt a blow before kick-off when defender Joe Nightingill was taken ill (he was taken to hospital with chest pains) and almost fell behind after 60 seconds – Chico Ramos called into action to deny Jamie Dicks.
But Romford did strike minutes later to take the lead, Paul Clayton smashing home a rebound from a corner. It was 2-0 15 minutes later and it was Clayton once again, from another set piece.
The second half followed a similar pattern until West halved the deficit with 20 minutes to go, finishing from a Jake Pooley cross.
Substsitute Ryan Flack then had a chance before West struck again with 15 minutes left on the clock. A defensive mistake from Lopes Da Pina saw him play the ball to West who hit home at the second attempt after a good initial block from the keeper.
“I was very disappointed with our first half performance,” said Dockers boss Paul Vaughan, “but we came out and took the game to Romford. I have to be satisfied with a point.”
