Hornchurch 220-8

Orsett 210-7

HONOURS were shared in the Harrow Lodge Park encounter between Hornchurch and Orsett.

Hornchurch won the toss and elected to bat in this intriguing clash. But they struggled with the impressive Orsett bowling attack from the off.

Opener Paul Murray jnr was deftly caught by Shahid Khan off a great delivery by Jack Plom for just 19 runs. And when Jamie Sorrell went for 38 (stumped by the on-form Plom off a ball by George Gibbon) they looked at risk.

The ship was steadied by Ronnie Saunders 40 and Chris Haylett (37) but when they went the rest of the batsmen did not hang around.

But Hornchurch ran out of time on 22 and then surprised Orsett by capturing the wicket of Ryan Plom for a duck. But Paul Bennet (36), Mohamed Ahktar (52) and the not out Mark Pavitt (5) allowed Orsett to reach 210 for 7.
