CRICKET: THURROCK lost their last home game of the season to high-flying Old Chelmsfordians by 42 runs, writes Bill West.
The visitors batted first and thanks to Adil Zareef (40) and Nadeem Ahmed (39) helped the ten men post a good score of 187.
Umaad Sultan bowled excellently once again for Thurrock, claiming figures of 4-33, while Dean Henry got a run out and picked up three wickets including the key scalp of Ahmed.
Rob Baker, playing his first match this year, opened the batting and top scored for the hosts with 47. His innings was ended when he was clean bowled by Jake Wickham, who took 4-35. Nick Henry contributed 24 but no one else was able to stick around as the hosts in the end fell short by 42 runs.
Thurrock sit sixth in the Premier Division and will look to finish their league campaign on a high in their final match against Bentley.
