NON-LEAGUE: MARK Stimson said his Thurrock side endured “one of those afternoons” as they slipped to defeat against Needham Market.

The Suffolk side left Ship Lane victorious, after Fleet failed to forge a response to Luke Ingram’s 73rd minute goal – the first and only goal they have conceded this season.

Earlier in the week, Thurrock had secured their second win of the season, beating Cray Wanderers 1-0.

But following the Needham disappointment, Stimson told the club’s website: “We had four or five chances in the game including Lamar Reynolds’ shot off the post – it was simply one of those afternoons. I give credit to Needham Market who were a strong and organised.”

On Tuesday – after the Gazette went to press – Fleet travelled to Wroxham, with Stimson confident his side would bounce back.
