JUSTIN Gardner, the Aveley boss, feels his side just need "lady luck" to smile down on them after they fell to defeat by a last gasp goal at Dereham Town.

Adam Smith scored in stoppage time to consign Aveley to their second defeat in two games.

The hosts had gone 1-0 up through Sam Borrer five minutes before half-time, but Millers were level ten minutes into the second period.

Mathias Bakare, the Millers midfielder, was then giving his marching orders in the 72nd minute before Smith scored very late on.

It was Aveley's second defeat of the season, after Waltham Abbey beat them 2-0 on Saturday.

And Gardner took to Twitter after the game to back his side.

He said: "I believe in our lads they're honest, they don't hide and they're not making any excuses, just need a little lady luck and we will be flying.

"It's never nice losing in the 94th min to a deflected shot, the lads will respond asap and put smiles on me, @antslesulk and @DBricknell10 [coaching staff] faces.

"I'm extremely postive and feel good and looking forward to training tomorrow."

Millers will look to bounce back away to Brightlingsea Regent on Saturday.
