Herne Bay 1

Thurrock 3

NON LEAGUE: MARK Stimson’s Thurrock overcame an early setback in their final friendly against Herne Bay at the weekend. In the third minute Joe Nelder fired past Andy Walker, but Stimmo’s young Fleet side moved the ball around well on the Winch’s Field pitch.

An excellent run by Bradley Warner saw him release Lamar Reynolds, who seized his chance and equalised.

Fleet went into the lead after 27 minutes when Jordan Clark confidently struck the ball from the penalty spot. And Thurrock went 3-1 up in the 59th minute after Lamar Reynolds scored his second goal.

Mark Stimson said: “There were so many good performances today.

“It’s hard to select one or two names as the whole squad worked hard, and gave a very stylish performance against a terrific side.”

Jordan Clark picked up an injury but with some rest should be ready to start the season this weekend when Thurrock travel to Brentwood on Saturday for their League opener. And on Tuesday Fleet host Cray Wanderers at Ship Lane.

Thurrock Squad: Andy Walker, Lewis Clark, Remi Sutton, Rob Gilman, Tarik Moore-Azille, Greig Stewart, Brad Warner, Tajammil Hussain, Lamar Reynolds, Jordan Clark, Jack Paxman, Ross Wall, Connor Martin, John Osa, James Goode.
