Thurrock 159-10

Aythorpe Roding 89-9

Thurrock won comfortably by 70 runs in a low-scoring game at home to Aythorpe Roding.

The hosts batted first and were bowled out for 159 in the 37th over. Most of the batsmen got themselves settled, but none were able to kick on and make a substantial score. On his debut for the first team, Lee Henry came in at number eight and top scored with 22, while Ross Fullbrook and Rob Neal both made 18. While not a big total, Thurrock's bowlers had at least something to defend.

In the end, 159 was more than enough as the ten-man visitors were all out for just 89. Daniel Laird ripped through their batting line-up, taking 5-36, his first fifer of the season. Clarke Wren and Rob Neal also chipped in with two wickets apiece with Wren removing former Essex bowler Joe Grant. Laird took the final wicket as Thurrock sealed their third victory in a row.
