GOLF: Ray Chambers saved Mardyke Valley Seniors’ Team from defeat with some outstanding putting in the last fourball in their match at old rivals Belhus Park.
With the match lying at 4 -3 with one result to come, Ray’s consistent performance with the flat stick saw him and partner Jack Burgess home for a 2&1 victory to seal the draw.
Mick Gunning maintained his 100 per cent record since joining from Top Meadow early in the season, while his partner Dave Harris in his first outing, claimed both the nearest the pin prizes. Mick Melay and the much-improved Cliff Edwards won the third point.
Belhus captain Ron Groves sealed the captain’s game with a superb putt at the eighteenth.
