Hatfield Peverel 187
Thurrock 152
CRICKET: A LAST-WICKET 71-run partnership by Matt Hills and Umaad Sultan was all in vain as Thurrock narrowly lost to Hatfield Peverel by 35 runs, writes Bill West.
The home side batted first and were looking in a good position, having scored more than 200 with the score 121-4, but collapsed and were bowled out for 187. Danny McIntyre made 61 from 70 balls while Clarke Wren picked up 4-47 for the visitors.
In reply Thurrock got off to a poor start, but were nearly saved when Sultan joined Hills. But Hills was left stranded on 58 not out after two-hours at the crease.
