PALMERS boys were in action last weekend playing their second fixture of the season against a young Elm Park second team. Palmers were at home at Stanford rec in the Essex 18 and under boys league competition.
The Palmers squad comprised Ollie Smith, Dan Monk, Patrick Stenson and Jack Cable. In the singles matches there were wins for Smith, Monk, Stenson and Cable by 6-0, 6-0, 6-3, 6-0 respectively.
The doubles rubbers also proved fruitful whereby the pairings of Smith and Cable won 6-4, and Stenson and Monk prevailed 6-2.
The final score ended with an emphatic 6-0 win for Palmers. This was probably due to their greater experience.
However, this was a well deserved and encouraging result for the home team considering they lost their first fixture of the season away to Great Baddow’s second string.
