THE Belhus second string travelled to Kent for an annual fixture gainst Horton Kirby.
Belhus batted first and posted 206-8. And it proved too big a score for Horton to reach. Belhus player Greg Mendham was the star of the show.
His cultured 53 enabled his side to reach a respectable total of 206 from 40 overs.
After tea, Horton Kirby struggled.
They evntually posted 157-8 as they struggled to deal with Belhus debutant Brett Page who took 3 for 45. And Belhus eased home to a 49-runs win.
The Belhus third string was beaten by Chingford. Belhus raced to 171-7 thanks to Jim Robertson’s 43 and Jack Plane who hit a decent 30 to post a competitive total in this 40 overs match.
But it was not enough as rivals Chingford overhauled the target – registering 174-9 – for the loss of nine wickets.
In the run-chase, Chingford lost nine wickets before reaching their target.
Belhus spinners Cliff Cansdale (3 for 20) and Mark Fogg (2 for 7) were the pick of the Belhus bowlers but Chingford still crept over the finishing-line.
