Great Baddow 123
Thurrock 1sts 269-7
THURROCK’s first string started their Premier Division campaign in fantastic style with a convincing 146 run win over Great Baddow.
After losing the toss and being put into bat, the visitors posted a formidable total of 269 for 7 from their 45 overs.
Captain Nick Henry led from the front with a quickfire 54 from just 53 balls. There were also useful knocks from Mark O’Neill, Daniel Laird and Matt Hills to help push Thurrock past the 250 mark.
Great Baddow were always behind the game and were never really in contention to reach Thurrock’s total.
The hosts lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually skittled out for just 123.
Daniel Laird not only contributed with the bat but with the ball as well, ending up with figures of 3-32 from nine overs. New signing Umaad Sultan also impressed.
He removed both of Baddow’s openers and also picked up three wickets.
Thurrock's dominating victory means they are joint top of the Premier Division with 26 points.
