Ryman Premier League: SURVIVAL hopes for East Thurrock improved on Saturday after they cruised to a 2-0 derby win over Canvey.

A brace of first half goals from in form striker Sam Higgins were enough for the Rocks to take all three points in the Ryman Premier League match.

Although John Coventry’s men still sit in the relegation places, a win against Margate who visit Rookery Hill tomorrow will lift them above Wingate & Finchley on goal difference and out of the drop zone.

As fine as East Thurrock’s performance was, Canvey lacked ideas and struggled throughout the game to keep the ball leaving their supporters very little to cheer.
