RYMAN PREMIER: JAY Curran admits he is enjoying his blossoming strike partnership with John Sands.

The duo have been in cracking form with 20 goals between them in Canvey’s last 13 games.

Sands was on target in Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat to Bognor.

It ended a 10-match unbeaten run, but Curran says confidence remains high heading into tomorrow’s trip to Harrow.

He said: “Everyone is happy here at the moment and it is a really good changing room.

“And that is down to the manager Danny Heale as he’s got everyone going.

“The group is really gelling, we are all good mates and we’re just taking the the feeling in the changing room onto the field.

“John scores pretty much every game and he has made a big contribution for us.

“But it is a team effort and everyone plays their part. We’ve been solid at the back which makes it easier for us up front.

And despite that set-back against the Rocks, Curran says the Gulls will keep pushing for a play-off spot until the end.

He said: “We just want to keep winning and you never know what is round the corner.

“Confidence is high all over the park at the moment.

“And it’s a good feeling when you go a goal down but know you can get two or three goals like we did at Billericay. “Getting to the play-offs looked tough at Christmas but it might happen. But we are trying not to get too carried away.”

Harrow ended a run of four straight wins for Canvey by beating them 3-1 in November.

Gulls manager Danny Heale has been working to bring in some midfield cover, with suspensions for Mike Jones and Matt Game coming up.

Billericay were bidding to make it back-to-back wins at home to Carshalton on Thursday, after the Echo went to press.

A second-half penalty from Richard Halle was enough for a 1-0 win for Town at home to Wingate on Tuesday.

Town fans will hope to get another look at their new 6ft 5in striker Geoff Mitchell, who has arrived on loan from Hayes and made a midweek debut.

John Coventry's East Thurrock will look to build on their fine win over Maidstone and move out of the relegation zone when they host Hendon at Rookery Hill.
