SWIMMING: Thurrock Swimmer Club Squad swimmer and St Cleres School pupil, Kieron Harris, 11, travelled to Sheffield to compete in the National Disability Youth Swimming Championships.

The deaf swimmer from Grays has been competing for nearly two years.

The Championships were an exciting event which saw Kieron swim alongside some of the country’s Gold medal winning Paralympians from the 2012 Olympic Games.

It was Gold all the way for Harris and the swimmern came home to the borough armed with 4 Gold medals for the 50 butterfly, 50 breaststroke, 50 backstroke and 100 Freestyle.

As well as the 4 Gold medals Kieron broke 2 deaf UK swimming records for his age group in the 50 breaststroke and 50 backstroke.

He had a fantastic weekend and his little sister Emma, who celebrated her 5th birthday at the Championships, was especially proud of her brother for winning his races!
