PLAYERS club officials and parents rubbed shoulders with England’s World Cup hat-trick hero Sir Geoff Hurst when he visited Wickford club Essex Royals on Saturday.
The two-hour trip was part of Sir Geoff’s work as a McDonald’s grassroots football ambassador.
Club official Dawn Hutson said: “It was a lovely day and everyone went away with a smile.
Sir Geoff stayed longer than he was supposed to and signed everything.
He spoke to everyone of the teams and also kicked a few footballs.”
Sir Geoff scored three of England’s goals as they beat West Germany 4-2 at Wembley in the famous 1966 World Cup final.
