BOXING: TILBURY Dockers ABC’s Tey Lynn- Jones won his own contest at the Essex Senior Elite championships at Harlow stadium.
The talented Thurrock middleweight proved too much for Southend’s Tommy Walsh and the referee ended the bruising contest.
Seasoned campaigner Walsh had received three standing counts in the second round. The Tilbury fighter’s strength dominated from the early stages.
And although Walsh remained on his feet, he had taken a lot of power shots to head and body and his corner were looking to retire him.
Lynn-Jones now represents Essex in the Eastern Counties stage of the national Elite championships on April 11th.
And he will be looking to add this title to the Eastern Counties novice title he won last year.
Also representing Tilbury Dockers in the light heavyweight final was Nathan Yerlett who was just back from holiday in Egypt. The travel and lack of sleep was evident when he was narrowly outpointed by his local rival Dan Azeez from Essex University.
