SEA ANGLING: THERE has been plenty of fishing action in Thurrock this week. Purfleet: Eels and flounders have been landed.

Grays Wharf and Tilbury World’s End: Whiting, codling and flounders have been providing sport.

Southend Pier: Lee, from Southend Angling Centre, reports whiting, dabs and lots of crabs. Southend beaches: Flounders and pin whiting are showing at Westcliff and Chalkwell, with better-sized whiting being taken at Thorpe Bay and West Beach after dark on fish or squid.

Fulham: Former bare knuckle boxer London Dave, who is well known in south Essex angling circles, had what he described as an “explosion” of eels, most of which were sizeable and were tempted by raw chicken.

Thamesmead: Eddie Sharp reports flounders only at the venue, most of which were just sizeable.

Erith: Flounders, eels and some just sizeable bass have been caught at Morrison’s Jetty.

Greenhithe: Bass that are just above schoolie size had been reported, along with pin whiting.

Gravesend: Graham, from Dolphin Angling, says “stonking big” flounders have been caught, alongside whiting and codling.

Boats: Anglers on Misty Lady had 28 skate and lots of small but sizeable codling while fishing about a quarter of a mile off Walton Pier at the weekend. Skippers of Wallasea-based boats report plenty of skate and codling.
