ANGLING: THERE has been plenty of freshwater action at the Main lake at Stanford’s Warren fishery.

The borough lakes have been fishing very well in the mild weather.

Two 30lb carp have been reported.

The first was a 30lb 2oz fish fell to bollies.

And the second was a mirror carp tipping the scales at 33lb.

This second fish fell to a pike angler and was caught with half a herring. Plenty of smaller carp have been reported over the last week.

And at least three of these fish have weighed in at over 20lb. The main lake has also been producing bream.

And one of the day ticket anglers took 12 fish in the 4lb to 6lb pound range. His bag also included roach and perch. The Warren’s square lake is producing carp to 18lb plus bream, roach and perch. Day ticket angler Liam Hubbard had a good haul of 15 bream weighing in at 4lb to 5.5lb plus two 6lb carp.

A number of roach and perch all fell to maggot on a groundbait feeder. The pike season is now over and the match lake is closed due to high water levels.
