BOXING: FIGHTERS from Chadwell are coming to terms with new fight scoring.
Amateur Boxing has recently seen new changes to the scoring system in order to bring all judging in line with the Amateur International Boxing Association.
And the new 10-9 scoring system – which takes ‘aggression’ into the decision of judges seems to suit the style of Chadwell St Mary Boxing Club’s 12-year-old Sam Lee who fights at 50kg.
Lee recently boxed against W Coakley from Gator ABC on the Hornchurch show at the Chafford School in Rainham.
And Sam’s aggressive ‘come forward’ style impressed the judges. He won his bout by a unanimous decision.
Lee’s recent win sets him in good stead for the Schoolboy Championships to be started later this month.
