Thurrock Gazette: Try golf days aiming to bring new members to Orsett Try golf days aiming to bring new members to Orsett

GOLF: ORSETT’S 2014 lady captain Margaret Oliver is still celebrating after bagging a hole in one at the 119 yard par three eighth.

She missed seeing it drop into the hole – believing the ball must have rolled to the back of the green – and walked past the flag.

But then she saw her ball in the hole. Margaret is now getting ready for two ladies Golf Taster Days that Orsett is holding. The event will be on Sunday, March 2 and Monday, March 3, with the start at 11am. In an effort to encourage more woman to play at Orsett, the joining fee for ladies is currently suspended.

Next month’s special days will include a welcome from Margaret, with tea and coffee. Newcomers will then meet Orsett’s new golf professional David Wood (for some short game tips), and be trated to a tour of the new-look clubhouse. They will also and play five holes. To book contact Margaret Oliver on 01708 505 947 or email margaretoliver1206@gmail.com For golf see the THURROCK GAZETTE every Thursday
