ATHLETICS: THURROCK Harriers are still celebrating a good weekend at Lee Valley.

The club’s young stars competed in the recent Lee Valley U13/15 open and U15 Pentathlon over the weekend. There were several PB’s and strong performances over the two-day event.

The U13 girls were Jessica Smith, Megan Smith and Olivia Mynett who jumped to a new personal best of 1.30m in the high jump.

Talented U13 boy Daniel Knight produced a new PB in the 60m hurdles.

U15 girls Elena March, Kendra Nwaelene, Grace Okunola and Jessica Whitbread raced to two PB’s in the long jump and 60m hurdles. And in the U15 boys, Aaron Wong delivered two PB’s in the high jump and 200m. Liam Chivers threw to a new personal best in the shot putt and Nedum Okonyia bagged two personal bests in 60m hurdles and 200m.

On Sunday it was the turn of the U15 pentathletes, Seniz Jessener, with two PB’s in 60m hurdles and shot putt and a new high score in the pentathlon. Jessica Whitbread a new PB in 800m and also a new high score in the pentathlon, and Tom Wakeling also badgged two new PB’s in the 60m hurdles and shot putt.
