LEAGUE TWO: SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown was left bemoaning his side’s lack of quality in the final third and referee Dean Whitestone following last night’s 1-1 draw at Dagenham & Redbridge.

The Shrimpers had to make do with a point after Daggers’ striker Luke Norris cancelled out Kevan Hurst’s opener for the visitors.

And Brown was disappointed not to have taken more from the game.

“We went in front and I’m frustrated we weren’t able to build on that,” said Brown.

“We didn’t work their goalkeeper enough which I maybe understood against Hull at the weekend but it’s disappointing here.

“We should have done better in a few situations but we were also denied what I felt was a stonewall penalty when Adam Thompson went down in the area.

“But in the end we also had to rely on some good saves from Daniel Bentley for us even to get a point.”

Blues, who were roared on by 1, 306 in a crowd of 2, 624, moved up to sixth in the standings after picking up a point.
