ATHLETICS: THURROCK’S leading hurdlers Khai Riley-Laborde and Robbie Clarricoats were in action at the London Indoor Games at Lee Valley.

Riley-Laborde, 18, has been stepping up an age group and hurdle height to compete against the senior men this winter and did so again at Lee Valley.

And the Purfleet teenager, who competed for Great Britain at the European Junior Championships last year, twice broke his personal best, clocking first 8.07s and then 8.01s.

Tilbury’s Clarricoats, who has linked up with former GB star hurdler and now leading coach Tony Jarrett this winter, also clocked two PBs in the under-20 men’s event, running 8.20s and then 8.16s.

Thurrock Harriers’ Chay Clark, 17, was also in action, running a PB of 9.87s in the senior women’s 60m hurdles and clearing 1.60m in the high jump.

Pat Dobbs has just returned from the Canterbury 10 Mile which incorporated the Southern Counties Veterans Champs. The race was run over multi terrain course which was considered mostly of muddy farm tracks and was also very hilly. His time was 1.29.04secs - good enough for gold in his age group.
